Hanuman slogam or Budhir Balam Slogam
The third slogam in the basic invocatory slogams is the Hanuman slogam as a prayer to Lord Hanuman seeking his blessings during the performance.
The slogam is recited in a clear voice and a clear mind, trying to picture Lord Hanuman in the mind's eye.
Buddhir Balam Yasho Dhairyam
Nirbhayatvam Arogataa
Ajaadyam Vaak Pattuth vam Ca
Hanumat Smaranaat Bhavet ||
The meaning is deciphered as:
Budhi- Intelligence
Balam- strength
Yashas or yasho- a graceful appearance
Dhairyam - patience, infound courage.
Nirbhayatvam- State of no fear
Arogata- Arogya- sound health
Ajaatyam- Active and quick (both in wit and movement)
Vaak Patuthvamcha- clear speech and communication
Hanumat smaranath Bave- We bow down towards Lord Hanuman, who is the embodiment of these traits to bless us(the dancers or the ones who recite) with those qualities.
