The invocation of Lord Hanuman

Hanuman slogam or Budhir Balam Slogam

The third slogam in the basic invocatory slogams is the Hanuman slogam as a prayer to Lord Hanuman seeking his blessings during the performance.

The slogam is recited in a clear voice and a clear mind, trying to picture Lord Hanuman in the mind's eye.

Buddhir Balam Yasho Dhairyam
Nirbhayatvam Arogataa
Ajaadyam Vaak Pattuth vam Ca
Hanumat Smaranaat Bhavet ||

The meaning is deciphered as:

Budhi- Intelligence

Balam- strength

Yashas or yasho- a graceful appearance

Dhairyam - patience, infound courage.

Nirbhayatvam- State of no fear

Arogata- Arogya- sound health

Ajaatyam- Active and quick (both in wit and movement)

Vaak Patuthvamcha- clear speech and communication

Hanumat smaranath Bave- We bow down towards Lord Hanuman, who is the embodiment of these traits to bless us(the dancers or the ones who recite) with those qualities.
